In the Design/Build approach, the Contractor is responsible for the design and construction of a project. This approach incorporate many of the best features of the other project approach methods and involves the collective input of the Owner, Architect/Engineer, and Contractor.
The Design/Build approach of Vector
Construction has typically been to enlist the services of a design firm qualified for the particular type of project. We then work with the Owner to develop the design criteria. From these criteria, enough preliminary design is completed to present a guaranteed cost to complete the design and construct the project.
The Design/Build methods is similar to the fast track approach, but is more efficient and allows grater benefit to the Owner because better planning and scheduling is possible since the project is under the leadership of one entity.
The project cost under a Design/Build approach is usually less than other approaches. Design costs can be reduced because the Architect/Engineer and Vector
Construction are working together and less detail in the drawings is required. A cost-effective design is the result of early planning with the Owner and the working relationship between the Architect/Engineer and Vector
Construction.
A prime benefit of the Design/Build approach as described, is the Owner has a guaranteed total cost very early and allows the project’s feasibility to be accurately checked before a major amount of money has been committed.
